Happy Belated Earth Day! It's a little late, but April is also Earth Month, so hopefully it still counts.
Let's face it, we humans have done quite a number on our poor planet. We need to be more conscious of what we can do as consumers to assist in improving the environment and protecting the earth.
I try to recycle every possible item that I can, but our recycling systems are not as effective as they need to be. It is my understanding that much of what is put into our recycling bins and sent to recycling centers unfortunately doesn't get recycled. Because of this, I am considering additional ways to do less harm to the planet.
One way to do this is to purchase sustainable products, which are products that have a minimal impact on the environment and society. Some examples of sustainable products are clothing made with eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton or bamboo, furniture made with recycled or reclaimed wood, electronics made with recycled materials and energy efficient components, and water bottles or coffee cups made with reusable or biodegradable materials.
Amazon has pledged to address environmental and societal challenges through their sustainability program. You can read more about it here and also review their 2022 Sustainability Report. With that, I felt today it would be appropriate to share Amazon products that include sustainability features.
There were not a ton of products with sustainability features that fall into the home decor category, but I did find a few that I will share.
This waffle texture shower curtain lists three sustainability features: 1) Made on farms or in facilities that protect the rights and/or health of workers. 2) Manufactured using processes that reduce the risk of negative environmental impact. 3) Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
This shower curtain is a blended woven fabric of 20% flax linen plus 80% polyester and is offered in a few sizes. It lists three sustainability features: 1) Contains at least 50% recycled material. 2) Manufactured on farms or in facilities that protect the rights and/or health of workers. 3) Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
The sherpa throw is made from a plush polyester sherpa fabric and lists the following sustainability feature: Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
These 100% cotton beach towels are 30-inch x 60-inch and offer four different color options. There are three sustainability features listed for these towels. 1) Manufactured on farms or in facilities that protect the rights and/or health of workers. 2) Manufactured using processes that reduce the risk of negative environmental impact. 3) Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
This sheet set is a soft, brushed microfiber with deep 16" pockets. They are highly rated and offer many color options. The 4-piece set consists of a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and 2 pillowcases, and lists the following sustainability features: 1) Manufactured on farms or in facilities that protect the rights and/or health of workers. 2) Manufactured using processes that reduce the risk of negative environmental impact. 3) Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
These kitchen towels are made using BCI certified cotton, are highly rated, and offer six color options. In addition to the 6-pack, they are also sold in 3, 4, and 12-packs. The same three sustainability features are listed as the sheet set: 1) Manufactured on farms or in facilities that protect the rights and/or health of workers. 2) Manufactured using processes that reduce the risk of negative environmental impact. 3) Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.
While shopping, I found quite a few different rug styles that include sustainability features. Many were very pretty and versatile and would look nice in any room. Best of all, the following three rugs are both machine washable and list the same sustainability feature: Made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment.

In addition to these few home decor products, I also wanted to share a couple of other eco-friendly products that caught my eye.
