My husband and I finally upgraded our ancient mattress, and when I say upgraded, I mean upgraded. We went from a mid-grade memory foam king-sized to a split king hybrid adjustable bed. I never, ever thought we would spend so much money on a mattress, ever. I'm still having a little difficulty coming to terms with the cost, but in the end, we decided that quality sleep is vital to good health, so it was an investment in ourselves.
Now we have this new adjustable bed and need a bed frame to contain it. We have the option of purchasing a kit that will allow a headboard to be attached, but I feel a complete frame is a more polished look. I'm on the hunt for a nice bed frame with a center opening that is compatible in size with our bed and will allow enough space for the bed to sit inside of the frame. The goal is to achieve a seamless fit and bring some style to the space.
Because we spent sooo much money on the bed itself, I have been searching for a reasonably priced, affordable bed frame. The least expensive options seem to be upholstered styles, which are nice because they offer style and versatility. When purchasing anything online, I will only consider items that have a rating above 4 stars, preferably 4.5 or greater. Any products I share on this blog will have reviews of an average above 4 stars at the time they are shared.
I'm on the fence about exactly what style would look nice in our room. I need to research further to determine what options will work best with our bed and make size comparisons between it and a potential bed frame. However, I have started browsing my go-to shopping source, Amazon, and have found a few affordable but stylish bed frames.
Light Upholstery Options
A new bed means an entire re-design of the room, right? Since moving into our home in 2018, we have not yet repainted our bedroom in a color of our choice, so it is long overdue. Most likely, I will paint the walls a light greige, but I am also considering a pretty shade of navy as an accent color on the focal wall behind the bed. If I go this route, then a light gray or beige fabric for the bed would contrast nicely against the navy wall.
1. The button tufted fabric and wingback detail of the Sha Cerlin Bed Frame reminds me a little of a Victorian style and would add a touch of sophistication to the room. This bed is also available in a dark gray fabric which would work well if the focal wall were the same light greige color as the other three walls.
2. I love the vertical channel tufting of the Yaheetech Channel Tufted Bed. With the linen fabric in a light beige hue, it provides a classic look while the vertical lines give it a modern flair.
3. I prefer the darker beige tones of the Hoomic Wingback Bed Frame over the light beige shade of the previous Yaheetech. The geometric wingback headboard is not a design I had originally considered, but I do like its uniqueness and appreciate how this pattern gives it a contemporary feel.
4. The Allewie Diamond Stitch Bed Frame is another button-tufted option. The simple rectangular shape and longer legs give a timeless look that will coordinate with most decor.
5. The flat panel design of the Allewie Adjustable Platform Bed in light gray offers a clean, minimalistic look, and the curved corner design adds a fashionable touch.
6. Wow. The Amerlife Velvet Upholstered Sleigh Bed really makes a statement. The button tufted detailing and the rolled headboard and footboard definitely emit style. I love that this bed frame offers a footboard and is not simply a platform bed as the other options.
Dark Upholstery Options
If I decide against the navy focal wall and paint all four walls of the room a light greige, then a dark fabric would be a better option for the space to create some contrast on the focal wall.
1. Wow again. I had not even considered a black bed frame until I saw the black version of the Amerlife Velvet Upholstered Sleigh Bed. What a beauty. The velvet fabric, deep button tufting, and wingback headboard combine to make a bold, elegant statement. This bed has me rethinking my original design plan.
2. The Molblly Platform Bed is an inexpensive option that still delivers on style. The dark gray fabric and vertical channel tufting provide modern details to this classic design.
3. What can I say, I love blue. Even though I'm a little afraid that I might tire of a blue bed at some point, the rich blue color of the Allewie Velvet Platform Bed is right up my alley. Its modern aesthetic is featured in the headboard's rectangular shape and vertical channel design. It may be a perfect style for a guest room when we become official empty nesters.
4. The minimalist style of the Jocisland Platform Bed combined with the rich fabric, high winged back, and gold detail on the legs create the perfect blend of comfort and style.
5. Another nice black bed option is the Upholstered Bed with Vertical Channel Tufted by the Albott Store. The tall headboard gives it a grand appearance and the vertical lines add a modern element.
6. The Feonase Wingback Platform Bed is one of the least expensive options, but it's still as stylish as those with a higher price. The diamond button tufting, and dark gray linen fabric create a chic, classic look.
And the Winner Is...
I have no idea. I'm still leaning toward including a navy focal wall, which would make a beige or light gray option at the top of the list. For one of my next blog posts, I plan to share some design inspiration photos that incorporate a navy wall behind the bed to assist me in making a decision. However, the Amerlife Velvet Upholstered Sleigh Bed in black now has me envisioning an entirely different look for our space, which would nix the navy wall idea altogether.
I'm a little closer to deciding, but in typical perfectionist Tracey fashion, I need some time to overanalyze for awhile it in a quest to make the perfect final decision.
